Babysitting Basics, a course for Greene County youngsters in grades 5-6, will be held on two Saturdays, Oct. 22 and Oct. 29, from 8:30 am to noon. The workshop will be held at Greene County Extension Jefferson. Cost is $25 for all registrations received by Oct. 14 and class size is limited. If there is room, additional registrations will be accepted at a cost of $35.
Participants will learn babysitting responsibilities and what employers expect, ideas to entertain children, how to handle emergencies, first aid and safety pointers, and how to care for children of different ages.
Sessions will be led by Kayla Hyett, county youth & 4-H coordinator; Sue Richardson, county families coordinator; and others including a dietitian, health care providers, members of law enforcement and the fire department, and parents with young children to observe and interact with.
