Attendance was good last Thursday evening when staff at Greene County Medical Center hosted a campus-wide open house to showcase the new and renovated areas there.

The open house marked the completion of a two phase, $22.5 million expansion/renovation project. Of that, $4 million was raised locally by a volunteer committee in a capital campaign, “Investing in Tomorrow’s Care.” Donations of all sizes came from all parts of Greene County.

The first phase, which was finished 13 months ago, added 52,000 square-feet on the east end of the building, primarily for inpatient and diagnostic services and a new emergency room.

The second phase was renovation of the “old” space primarily for outpatient clinics. One of the most visible parts of the project is a corridor and an open stairwell that connects Level A (the clinic level) and Level B.
