JPD working to apprehend thief

The Jefferson police department is investigating a rash of thefts from parked vehicles that have occurred in recent months.

According to chief of police Mark Clouse, most of the vehicles have been left unlocked with items in plain view. In some cases, purses, wallets, or spare change have been taken.

The JPD has developed a suspect and is conducting extra nighttime patrol in an attempt to apprehend the suspect.

Chief Clouse reminds residents not to leave valuables in vehicles and to lock them.
