Heart of Iowa win for Ram volleyball team

The Greene County varsity volleyball team marked Homecoming Week with a win over Prairie City-Monroe in Monroe Tuesday evening. Set scores were 28-18, 25-12, 25-15.

“This win was necessary for our team to get back on a winning track,” coach Donna Carhill said. “So many of our matches in the first half of the season were close, but we just couldn’t seem to finish with a win. In this match we were not only successful, but established ourselves from the beginning.”

Hannah Promes was 17 of 17 serving with four aces. She had 27 assists and nine digs. Hannah Stein was nine of nine serving and had eight kills. Nadia Fisher was 17 of 19 serving with three aces, six kills and nine digs. Megan Durbin had 13 kills and nine digs.

“I believe we are starting to see the fruits of the hard work the players have put in since Day One of the season. We served more efficiently, serving 12 aces as a team for the night. We did a better job of passing and digging, which in turn allows our hitters to be more successful. We are looking forward to the second half of our season,” Carhill said.

The Rams are 7-14 overall and 2-3 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play.
