The RSVP 55+ volunteer program will host an open house Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Greene County Extension & Outreach office to introduce Kristie Hurley as the new Greene County volunteer coordinator.

As the Greene County RSVP volunteer coordinator, Hurley will plan, develop and implement volunteer services delivered by county residents age 55 and older. The grocery assistance program (GAP), which matches volunteer shoppers with residents who are unable to shop for themselves, is the most visible of RSVP’s local programs.

Hurley will recruit new volunteers, and train and match them with clients. As she explains, “my role is to serve as a source of encouragement, inspiration and support for volunteers who want to share their time, skills, and talents while making an impact in Greene County.”

Hurley is not a stranger in Greene County. She and her husband Bob moved to Jefferson 37 years ago. She retired a year ago after a 42-year career in nursing.

The ‘meet and greet’ open house will be held from 10 am to noon. All RSVP volunteers are particularly encouraged to attend.

Hurley can be reached at 515-370-1099 or at rsvpkristie@gmail.com
