Ram eighth grade v’ball team hosts Saydel

The Greene County eighth grade volleyball team won seven games and lost two when it hosted Saydel in Jefferson Monday, Sept. 19. All three squads had wins for the day.

Game scores for the A squad were 21-10, 10-21, 22-20. Game scores for the B squad were 21-18, 21-7 and 14-3, and scores for the C squad were 21-7, 21-17, 4-7.

Coach Teresa Green reports top servers as follows: Brooke Diekmann, 25 for 26, 96 percent with 14 aces; Eliza Carlson, 9 of 10 for 90 percent with one ace; Emma McColley, 16 of 19, 84 percent with seven aces; Gaige Butler, 20 of 24, 83 percent with nine aces; Paige Egeland, 23 of 29 for 79 percent with nine aces; and Lauryn Killion, 1 for 1, 100 percent.

“Our athletes improved a lot over the past week,” Green said.  “We are passing the ball better and getting it up to our two setters, Brooke Diekmann and Paige Egeland. Our setters do their best to set the ball up for hitting. Lillian Muir looked strong with her spikes and was able to hit several from the back row. Muir and Annie Twillie did a nice job at the net with blocking the ball.”

As of Sept. 19, the A squad is 2-7 in games and 1-2 in matches; the B squad is 4-5 in games and 1-2 in matches; and the C squad is 6-3 in games and 2-1 in matches.
