Jeff swim team continues successful season

With one more meet before the conference championship, the Jefferson swim team stands at 7-1 on the season.

The swim team lost at home to Carroll 332-303 Tuesday, July 5. There were many outstanding performances on a night that saw a lot of fast times for both clubs. Gabe Schroeder broke a 19-year butterfly record, swimming the race in 17:15. He also won the 25 freestyle, backstroke, and breast.

The 200 medley relay team of Megan Doran, Julia Saul, Sophie Havens, and Ellie Madson broke a 23-year record and then broke an 18-year pool record in the 200 freestyle relay.   Nick Schroeder remains undefeated on the season with wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle, backstroke, individual medley, and breaststroke.  He is trying to complete his 6th season without a loss.

On Thursday evening, July 7, the team traveled to Lake City and won the meet 462-137. This was another dominant performance with several swimmers winning all five of their events.

The win brings the Jefferson swim team’s season record to 7-1.  The team will finish the regular season at home against Manning on Tuesday, July 12, and will travel to Guthrie Center Saturday for the 10-team Iowa West Swim Conference championship. It should be a great meet with Jefferson, Carroll, and Perry competing for the conference trophy, coach Jeff Schroeder said.
