Teen movie “Allegiant” to be hosted by public libraries

AllegiantTeens in 6th through 12th grades throughout Greene County are invited to attend the premiere showing of the movie “Allegiant” on Friday, April 15, at 4 pm at the Sierra Community Theatre. The first 200 teens to register at their local library will be admitted free and receive a coupon for $2 off a purchase at the concession stand.

This new movie is based on the third book in the popular “Divergent” series by Veronica Roth. Tris and Tobias continue their adventures 200 years in the future in the Chicago area. Like the previous books, this story involves violence, death, loyalty, forgiveness, romance and lots of intrigue and betrayal between friends and enemies.

“This book series is very popular,” said Scranton librarian Sheryl Hoyt. “We’re pleased to be able to partner with Sierra Community Theatre to make this event possible for the teens of Greene County again this year.”

Parents and siblings of teens who are pre-registered are welcome to attend with a paid admission. This premier showing is not open to the general public; the movie will be shown at 7 pm from April 15-21 for general admission.

County libraries have hosted a special showing of the first two movies, “Divergent” and “Insurgent,” in previous years. The libraries plan to sponsor a county-wide event for teens each year.

This event is co-sponsored by the public libraries of Greene County and the Greene County board of supervisors. Please contact your local public library to register or for more information.
