Paton-Churdan senior Carleigh Paup was rewarded for all her years of hard work in practices, camps and her performances in basketball games with a spot on the Des Moines Register’s All-Iowa First Team in Class 1A. KMA Radio of Shenandoah named her as Rolling Valley Activities Conference Player of the Year.
Paup, the daughter of Troy and Jodi Paup of Churdan, led the team in scoring all four years of her career. She was honored at half court earlier this year when she reached her 1,500-point mark. She finished her high school career with 1,833 points.
Paup scored 544 points, averaging 24.7 per game her senior year. She also had 66 assists, 88 rebounds, 22 blocks and 120 steals. She shot 47.2 percent from two-point range; 29.6 percent beyond the arc and 71.6 percent from the free throw line.
