Logo selected, Facebook page launched for Courthouse 100 celebration

Courthouse100-highresA unique logo that honors the 100 year history of the Greene County courthouse and the progressiveness of county leaders then and now was approved earlier this month by the Courthouse 100 committee.

The logo features a line drawing of the courthouse with a circular boarder that implies forward motion. Don Van Gilder, Courthouse 100 committee chair, said green was an obvious choice for the color. “With Greene County being the Land of Plenty, we wanted the same shade as a robust healthy corn plant in August,” Van Gilder said.

The logo was designed by Krystal Berger, a 2004 Jefferson-Scranton graduate. Berger holds a degree in art from Simpson College and is employed in website production by Meredith Corporation. She does freelance work as time permits.

The Courthouse 100 logo is not her first freelance job to be seen in her hometown. Berger designed the 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015 Bell Tower Festival logos.

With approval of the logo, the committee has rolled out a Facebook page that will be updated several times a month between now and the gala celebration in October, 2017. Facebook users are encouraged to “like” the page – Courthouse 100 Greene County Iowa – and visit it often.

The Courthouse 100 committee may sell items with the logo as part of fundraising for upcoming events, including a re-dedication of the cornerstone on May 15, 2016, and a gala in October of 2017 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Greene County courthouse completion and dedication.
