The 18 members of the Greene County Middle School cross country team wrap up their season later this week. The team competed at the Greene County Invitational, “Loop the Lake” at Spring Lake Park on Sept. 10; at the Norseman Invitational in Story City Sept. 24; at the Leon Fox Invitational in Perry Oct. 1; and at the South Central Calhoun (SCC) meet in Lake City Oct. 6. Coach Tom Braun provided the following information about the first two-thirds of the season.
Eighth grader Bailey Cunningham has placed no worse than fifth this season. She placed first at Roland-Story with a time of 12:55 and first at SCC with a time of 14:02. She was fourth at the Greene County meet with a time of 14:51 and she was fifth at Perry with a time of 14:09.
Other Top 20 finishes have been by eighth grader Izzy Bravard, ninth at Greene County with a time of 15:59 and 11th at SCC in 16:07; eighth grader Ashley Harmeyer, 11th at Greene County with a time of 16:07 and 12th at SCC in 16:08; eighth grader Sophia Ausberger, 11th at SCC with a time of 16:07; and seventh grader Conner Allender, 20th at SCC with a time of 16:30.
Other members of the girls team are seventh graders Hanna Acton, Hanna Curtis, Ariel Mills, Annie Twillie, Kamy Walker and Julia Oyres, and eighth graders Megan Doran, Emily Hofer, Kassie Lamoureux, Kirsten Lamoureux and Regan Williams.
Two boys, eighth graders Connor Fox and Brian Hardaway, comprise the boys team. Fox finished eighth at the Greene County meet with a time of 14:13. Hardaway finished eighth at Story City with a time of 12:41, and sixth in Lake City with a time of 14:17.
The Rams will run at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet Oct. 12 in Story City, and at Saydel Thursday, Oct. 15.
