Rockets top Boyer Valley in volleyball

The Paton-Churdan volleyball team is undefeated at home after a win in four sets over Boyer Valley Oct. 6. Set scores were 23-25, 25-11, 26-24, 25-19.

As a team, the Rockets served at 82.5 percent, pretty close to their season average. Freshman Megan Carey was 21 of 23 at the service line (91.3 percent) with four aces. Senior Sydney Koch was 15 of 17 (88.2 percent) with four aces and freshman Jenna Beyers was seven of eight for 87.5 percent. Sophomore Grace Geisler was 19 of 22 for 86.4 percent.

Koch added 15 kills and 15 digs. Carey had six kills and 10 digs. Senior Carleigh Paup had 18 digs, two kills and nine assists, while sophomore Mariah Tasler led in assists with 14.

“In the first set the girls played with great intensity and battled to the end but fell short of the win. Starting in set two we took off early and played scrappy, aggressive volleyball.  It was a great team effort and shows how much the girls have grown over the season,” coach Hannah Boehmer said.

The Rockets are 6-5 overall.
