The Paton-Churdan board of education will hold a special meeting Thursday to appoint a someone to fill a vacancy.
Brad Wilson resigned from the board in August, after the regular board meeting. Business manager Mitch Lewis explained that with a change in the State Code effective July 1, his resignation was effective immediately upon the school receiving his notification.
The appointee will complete Wilson’s term, which expires in 2017.
With the exception of Steve Burrell, who had not filed nomination papers but ran and was re-elected as a write-in candidate, the most experienced member of the Paton-Churdan board is Deonne Reed, who was elected in 2013. Incumbent board member Troy Paup did not run for re-election. Jenn Maach was elected to a position to which she was appointed earlier this year. Dave Palmer was elected in the Sept. 8 school election.
