Greene County Medical Center and UnityPoint Clinic announce that Dr Jon Van Der Veer has joined UnityPoint Clinic – Greene County.
Dr Van Der Veer’s face is familiar at the medical center – he currently serves as chief medical officer, a position he will maintain. Van Der Veer, an internal medicine specialist, will see adult patients three days a week at UnityPoint Clinic – Greene County.
Chief nursing officer Katie Heldt said, “This is a big win for the community, UnityPoint Clinic and the medical center.” Van Der Veer joined the medical center’s executive team in April 2014 and has been instrumental in overseeing the recruitment of additional visiting specialists to the campus, most recently oncology/hematology, pulmonology and cardiology specialists.
At the time of his hire, chief executive officer Carl Behne, said, “Our patients will benefit from Van Der Veer’s passion for patient-centered care delivery.” Behne now notes, “UnityPoint Clinic – Greene County patients will be able to experience that passion firsthand.”
When the contract work was finalized, Van Der Veer said, “This is a way that I can better serve the community and people I have become enamored with over the last 16 months.”
Van Der Veer is a University of Iowa and Des Moines University graduate. He has been with UnityPoint Clinic in West Des Moines since 2012 and will continue seeing patients there when not at the Jefferson clinic.
