P-C to open childcare center

The Paton-Churdan board of education at its July 9 meeting voted to use the portable classroom formerly rented by Tracy’s Tots Daycare for a school-operated early learning center.

The board plans that the Paton-Churdan Early Learning Center will be a literacy/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts Math) based childcare center for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.

Each child will be taught from the Creative Curriculum until they reach kindergarten. Every child will have a written Personalized Education Plan (PEP) just as P-C students now have.

“The addition of a quality childcare center that embraces love of learning and a consistent curriculum for all of its children is an exciting opportunity for our students,” said P-C principal Annie Smith.

The board hopes to open the P-C Early Learning Center the second week of August and is now taking applications for qualified workers and child enrollments.
