Scranton Betterment plans swim bus

The Scranton Betterment Committee is once again sponsoring the swim bus taking youngsters to the Jefferson pool this summer. The bus will travel on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning July 7 and continuing through Aug. 13.

The bus will leave the east side of the Scranton Community Center at 12:45 pm and return about 4:45 pm. The youngsters should be prepared to board the bus in Jefferson at 4:30.

Permission slips are now available at Peoples Trust & Savings Bank or the Marchant Memorial Library. They must be signed by a parent or guardian and on file to allow the children to ride the bus.

All youngsters ages 8 or younger must be accompanied by a designated person age 14 or older. That information must be included on the permission slip.

Youngsters are responsible for the cost of entering the pool and for any treats they want to purchase.

Friends of the Scranton Library and the Betterment Committee are teaming up so children can earn a free pass to the pool by reading books. Contact the library for details.  ~The Scranton Journal
