In Greene County district court James Tirrill Perry, 37, of Ames was sentenced June 10 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. He must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees in an amount to be determined. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty during the week ending June 12 as follows: Paul Bradley Elm, 48, of Webster City, forgery, identity theft and theft-second degree; Randy Alan Gray Jr, 36, of Scranton, possession of a firearm by a felon, theft-third degree, possession of methamphetamine-second offense; Dante Westley Copeland, 20, of Panora, unauthorized use of a credit card; and Omar Felan Estrada, 29, of Grand Junction, burglary-third degree. Trial dates were set for Aug. 25 in every case.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Mark James Hurley, 50, of Bayard has been charged with assault causing bodily injury. The warrant was issued May 31 and returned June 10.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Brad Lee Byerly, 46, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense; Jordan Robert Stewart, 22, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana-second offense; Christopher Herbert Lawrence, 35, of Ames, carrying weapons, and in another case, driving while license barred, carrying weapons and possession of methamphetamine; and Kimberly Marie Smith, 42, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine and carrying weapons.
