Rams go 3-0 at Ogden softball tournament; now 6-0 on season

The Greene County Ram softball team is 6-0 on the young season after winning all three games at a chilly tournament in Ogden Saturday. All tournament games were five innings.

The Rams won 10-6 over Boone, 13-11 over Webster City, and 20-7 over Carroll. The Rams totaled 43 runs and 44 hits for the day.

Marissa Promes pitched against Boone. She allowed four earned runs on seven hits and three walks. She struck out three batters. The Rams scored all 10 of their runs in the first and second innings, with home runs from Kayla Mobley and Emma Saddoris. Mobley also hit a triple and a single, Emily Christensen hit a double and a single, and Saddoris had a single. Mobley and Saddoris had three runs batted in each, and Christensen, Sydney Koch, Carleigh Paup and eighth grader Jenna Beyers all had an RBI each.

Senior Hannah Onken was on the pitching rubber the first three innings of the game against Webster City. She was credited with the win. Promes pitched the fourth and fifth innings and was credited with a save. Onken allowed 10 runs, six of them earned. She allowed 12 hits. She struck out one batter and walked one. Promes allowed one unearned run on no hits and one walk. She struck out five batters.

Against Webster City the Rams had 17 hits, including home runs by Promes and Tressa Rasmussen. Christensen, Promes and Onken had three hits each. Christensen hit a triple, a double and a single, and two of Promes’s hits were doubles. Mobley, Rasmussen and Koch had two hits each. Rasmussen and Mobley also doubled. Tallying the runs, Promes and Rasmussen had three RBIs, Christensen and Onken had two each, and Bailey Godwin had an RBI.

Kayla Mobley pitched all five innings against the Carroll Tigers. She walked nine batters, allowed eight hits, and struck out one batter. The Tigers’ seven runs were all earned.

The Rams got 16 hits against Carroll. Paup and Koch had three hits each. One of Koch’s hits was a double. Christensen had two doubles, Mobley and Saddoris had two singles each each, and Beyers, Promes, Rasmussen and Godwin all had a hit. Godwin’s lone hit was a triple. Koch, Mobley, Onken and Beyers each had three RBIs. Christensen and Mobley had two and Rasmussen, Saddoris and Godwin each had one RBI.
