Paton-Churdan senior Jake Carey qualified for the Class 1A coed State Track and Field Meet in the 800 m run. Carey was first in his heat in the state qualifying meet as he set a Paton-Churdan record in the event with a time of 2:03.03. Carey also qualified for the 400 m dash with a third place finish.
The Class 1A 400 m dash is Thursday at 7:20 pm. The 800 m race is Saturday at 10:30 am at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
This will be Carey’s second State meet appearance. He qualified as a junior in the 400 m race.
