Paton-Churdan senior Jake Carey qualified for the Class 1A coed State Track and Field Meet in the 800 m run. Carey was first in his heat in the state qualifying meet as he set a Paton-Churdan record in the event with a time of 2:03.03. Carey also qualified for the 400 m dash with a third place finish.

In Greene County magistrate court a judgment was entered May 13 in a case initiated in district court against Lance Maydar Dzuris of Jefferson. A charge of assault causing bodily injury was amended to assault-simple. A judgment was entered for a $100 fine with a $35 surcharge. Court costs were $121.

In Greene County district court persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Alysha Nicole Steece, 37, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury; Lance Michael Ross, 18, of Grand Junction, sex abuse-third degree; and Stephen Arthur Molle, 19, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana-first offense. Trial dates were set for July 21 in every case.
