Jefferson part of Travel Iowa’s 2015 promotion

Travel IowaJefferson has its only place in Travel Iowa’s whimsical new promotion which places Napoleon Bonaparte in Iowa lamenting that he sold Iowa as part of the Louisiana Purchase.

“Napoleon’s Folly” includes a short video that lets views watch Napoleon “ohh-la-la all over Iowa.” Scrolling down the webpage brings up the “French Connection,” which notes items of interest like Marengo being the name of Napoleon’s horse, and that the flag of Iowa is an alteration of the French tricolor.

One tag on the “French Connection” states, “Napoleon struck a deal with President Thomas Jefferson to sell the Louisiana Purchase in1803. Pay homage to the deal in Jefferson, Iowa.” It includes a link that brings up drone videos and the Greene County Chamber’s new website.

Travel Iowa even includes a blog written by Bonaparte. “What a boneheaded decision to sell such a place! If only I’d known – I never would have sold Iowa.”
