Greene County students at district speech contest

Greene County High School students performed at the Iowa High School Speech Association’s large group speech contest Jan. 24 in Audubon. Of the six groups performing, four earned “I” ratings and advanced to the state contest at Valley High School in West Des Moines Feb. 7.

Earning “I” ratings were: senior Shannon Brown and juniors David Petersen and Danielle Johnson, group improvisation; seniors Jordan King and Cecilia Blasnitz and juniors Faith Hanson, Victoria Sims, Aly Matthews, Brittany Richardson, group mime; sophomores Jack Schilling, Gabe Jensen and Zach Dane, short film; and seniors Dan Neal, Parker Willis and Alex Rasmussen and sophomore Reid Lamoureux, radio broadcast.

The short film and radio broadcast entries are prepared ahead and presented for judging at the contest.

Earning “II” ratings were: sophomore Emily Heupel and freshmen Jared Marshall and Regan Lamoureux; and Sims, Johnson, Petersen, Brown and sophomore Michael Kennedy, musical theatre.
