The Greene County Schools board of education agreed at its Dec. 17 meeting to move forward with selling the Rippey school property to the city of Rippey. Superintendent Tiom Christensen called the plan a “win-win situation.”
The board approved the proposal as outlined in an earlier post in GreeneCountyNewsOnline, although Christensen shared additional information about insuring the property. The school’s property and liability carrier suggested the school carry only liability insurance, not property insurance, according to Christensen. The school would have no interest in rebuilding should something catastrophic happen to the building, the insurance carrier pointed out. Christensen told the board he would get more information before making a recommendation.
The school and the city of Rippey will both carry liability insurance.
The board expects to set in January a date for a public hearing in February regarding the sale.
