Reminder: ABC Award nominations due Dec. 12

Area residents are reminded that the deadline for nominations for the Greene County Chamber’s ABC Award is Friday, Dec. 12.

The ABC Award (Above and Beyond the Call) is presented annually to an individual or couple who through personal involvement, leadership qualities and unselfish giving of time and talent has positively affected activities or accomplishments beneficial to the community at large. The recipient need not be a Chamber of Commerce member.

Past recipients have been involved in a broad spectrum of activities for community betterment, have shown leadership, and have produced harmony and goodwill in promoting worthy projects. The recipients’ activities have not been an extension of business interest.

Last year’s recipient was Don Orris, retired owner of Don’s Ace Hardware. He was recognized for his efforts – both organizational and physical labor – in the Doreen Wilber statue on the corner of Lincoln Way and Vine St and the Thomas Jefferson Gardens.

Nomination forms are available by email request to chamber@greenecountyiowa.com  at the Chamber office at 220 N. Chestnut St in Jefferson, at the public library in every Greene County town, or by clicking here: ABC Nomination. They should be returned to the Chamber office by the close of business on Dec. 12.

The award will be presented at the Greene County Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting Jan. 12.
