Area bird-watchers are invited to a Minnesota “Avian Adventure” hosted by the conservation boards of Cass, Sac and Carroll Counties. Destination for the bus trip is the Sax-Zim bog and Duluth, where participants will see a wide variety of birds and enjoy the culture of northeast Minnesota.
Target birds include great gray, northern hawk and snowy owls; evening and pine grosbeaks; sharp-tailed and ruffled grouse; boreal chickadees; American three-toed and black-billed woodpeckers and more. Birders will also see loons, gulls and scoters on Lake Superior.
Trip dates are Friday, Jan. 16 through Monday, Jan. 19. Departure will be from Ames or Urbandale. The cost of the trip includes transportation, three nights’ lodging, guides, and snacks on the bus.
