As announced last week with the introduction of Mike Couch as general manager of Wild Rose Jefferson, the $40 million gaming resort and entertainment venue is on schedule to open in early August.
Artist renderings of the exterior of the building were shared several months ago. Renderings of the interior are now ready to share as well.
Of the 71,000 total square feet, 18,000 will be the casino. Plans call for a minimum of 525 slot machines and 14 table games. By comparison, Prairie Meadows has close to 2,000 slot machines. “You’re not going to take the bear on but you can nip at his heels a little bit,” Wild Rose chief operating officer Tom Timmons said last Monday about competing with Prairie Meadows.
“They’re a different product,” Couch said about Prairie Meadows. “We’re going to offering a different product. Prairie Meadows is a large, crowded facility. We’re going to have something that’s a little more comfortable setting, more home-grown.”
The 12,000 square-foot events center will be able to seat up to 600 for concerts. Timmons said nationally-known acts will be booked for concerts. He said it’s possible acts will be booked for two nights, with one at Wild Rose Clinton and the other in Jefferson. Wild Rose Emmetsburg is too close to have a large act perform in both places, but that may happen with smaller acts.
Another 6,000 square-feet will be used for a full-service restaurant (left) and a sports bar (below).
One of the restaurants will include a small stage for local entertainment, Timmons said.
A “promenade” will extend across the front of the building, with windows looking toward the southeast. The 71-room Cobblestone Inn will be connected on the northeast end of the promenade.
