“Grinch-mas” coming to the library

GrinchStaff at the children’s library at Jefferson public library is encouraging readers to “grow their heart” this holiday season through the celebration of family reading, giving from the heart, and community service.

During the month of December, patrons who bring in a canned or boxed food item (check the expiration date, please), new socks, mittens, gloves, hats or scarves for the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center will be able to choose a gift, compliments of the Grinch.

Youngsters can play “Pin the Heart on the Grinch” and have their name entered into a drawing. There will also be “Grinch” coloring and activity sheets to take home.

A pair of holiday classic movie days are planned. “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman” will be shown Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 2:30 to 4 pm. The next week, Dec. 17, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will be the featured movie from 2:30 to 4:15 pm.

Children ages 4 through sixth grade are welcome. There is no charge. Call 515-386-4415 for more information.
