Open house showcases fix-up at Deep Rock gas station

An open house at the former Deep Rock gas station Thursday night was a time for storytelling and nostalgia as former employees, the daughters of former owners, and friends gathered to see the new life the building was granted by group of Community Betterment volunteers.

Deep Rock Event 1Many of those at the open house remembered the filling station best as Pete and Paul’s, owned and operated by Pete Garrity and Paul McNulty. Mary Garrity Wolterman and Colleen Guillman McNulty shared stories of hanging out at their father’s business. Brothers Dennis (left) and David Molle (right), who worked for Pete and Paul for a time, relived the full service days when Bob Burnell (in car) brought is 1931 Chevy to park under the canopy.  Burnell donated an old Deep Rock gas pump to be displayed in front of the station.
