Greene County district court, week ending Oct. 3

In Greene County district court Timothy James Dunphy, 29, of Duncombe was sentenced Sept. 26 to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to theft-second degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. Dunphy was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge and a $125 law enforcement initiative (LEI) surcharge. He must also pay $1,000 restitution to the owner of a vehicle he stole and damaged, $180 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $333.92 court costs. Dunphy was originally charged with burglary-third degree-unoccupied motor vehicle, theft-first degree and criminal mischief-first degree. (Sentencing: Honorable Adrea A. Kester)

Shawn Richard Knudsen, 23, of Carroll was sentenced to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. Knudsen was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. Court costs were $121. A charge of criminal mischief-second degree was dismissed. (Sentencing: Kester)

Nastassia Chaneel Goff, 29, of Grand Junction was sentenced to two years in prison on a charge of burglary-third degree. The term is concurrent to prison time on a Greene County case in which Goff was charged with possession of marijuana-second offense. She was originally placed on probation on that charge, but the probation was revoked when Goff did not comply with the conditions of probation. On the burglary charge, the minimum fine and surcharge were suspended. Goff must pay a $125 LEI surcharge, $130 victim restitution, $60 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $140 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Shawn Patrick Maloney, 44, of Scranton, sex abuse-second degree (two counts), and lascivious acts with a child (two counts); Rebecca Lynn Chumbley, 30 of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana; Richard Dean Tuhn Jr, 35, of Grand Junction, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of domestic abuse, an in a separate case, burglary-first degree, burglary-second degree and domestic abuse. A trial date was set for Nov. 4 for Maloney and for Dec. 16 for Chumbley and Tuhn.

Cases were initiated in Greene County district court as follows: Joshua James Schneider, 32, of Fort Dodge, driving while license revoked; and Heather Thelma Ott, 33, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault-serious.
