Greene County senior musicians Logan Hoyt, Jasmine Mobley and Beth Teusch were honored at the annual awards concert Tuesday evening.
Hoyt (right) received the Lions Club Arion Award for vocal music. Hoyt was selected for the All-State Chorus his senior year and was a frequent soloist in the Jazzatonics jazz choir. He is the son of Rob and Emily Hoyt of Scranton.
Music directors select students for the Arion Award based on leadership and musicianship.
Jasmine Mobley (left) , an alto saxophone player, received the Arion Award for instrumental music and the Jazz Band award. Mobley was selected for the All-State Band her sophomore and senior year and has played in several honor bands. She is the daughter of Jackie and John Mobley III of Jefferson.
Beth Teusch (middle), a bassoon player, received the Director’s Award for instrumental music. She is a two-time All-Stater, playing her junior year in the band and her senior year in the orchestra. She is the daughter of Jim and Nancy Teusch of Jefferson.
All musicians who received honors during the year were recognized and all senior and their parents were introduced. This year’s choir included 15 seniors and the band included 14 seniors. Many of those seniors were in both large ensembles.
Music director Marty Brenden, who will retire at the end of the school year, was also honored during the concert. See the May 11 Good News Sunday update for highlights of that celebration, as well as some of the art displayed by students in the hallway during the evening.
