Wednesday, April 30: Routine activity reported.

Tuesday, April 29: At 2:47 pm a complainant reported a domestic abuse and assault to a child at a residence in the 200 block of E. Perry St. The incident was referred to the Department of Human Services.

Monday, April 28: At 7:54 am a complainant reported a female was harassing her children at the bus stop at N. Pinet and W. Reed St. At 4:34 pm a complainant reported the burglary to a garage in the 300 block of N. Elm St. Various tools were reported stolen.  As a result of an investigation initiated April 6 where a debit card was allegedly taken from a residence in the 700 block of Pinet Place and used without the owner’s permission, James Pena, 16, of Jefferson has been charged with three counts of unlawful use of a credit card, an aggravated misdemeanor.* Pena has been referred to Juvenile Court Services. Another juvenile was charged with curfew violation.

Saturday, April 26: At 1:14 am officers were advised a vehicle had struck the flag pole at the VFW hall in the 100 block of N. Chestnut St. Officers found the driver of the vehicle passed out with the vehicle running and in gear at a residence in the 800 block of W. South St. Nathan Merrill, 32, of Jefferson was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI)-third or subsequent offense and driving while license revoked- serious misdemeanor.* At 9:36 am an officer was requested by the Greene County sheriff’s office to assist with the arrest of a non-compliant male on Hager St in Grand Junction. At 10:12 am an officer was requested to assist the Iowa State Patrol with an arrest of a non-compliant male at Highway 30 and County Road P-33 west of Grand Junction. At 5:54 pm an officer investigated a minor backing collision in the Bomgaars parking lot. Robert Holz attempted to back out of a parking stall but sideswiped a vehicle owned by Paula Griffin. Damage to Holz’s 1999 Toyota Camry was estimated at $70. Damage to Griffin’s 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was estimated at $200. No citation was issued due to the incident occurring on private property. At 9:37 pm an officer investigated a car-deer accident in the 2000 block of Westwood Drive. Damage to Leslie Reinhardt’s 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was estimated at $800.

Friday, April 25: At 8:05 am a complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from the 400 block of S. Georgia St. At 11:40 am a complainant requested an officer at a residence in the 200 block of E. McKinley St for a reported burglary. Someone had forced entry into the residence but noting was found to be missing. At 8:19 pm a complainant reported the theft of a television by a known person from a residence in the 200 block of W. Adams St.

Thursday, April 24: At 9:57 am an officer was asked to pick up an abandoned bicycle in the 400 block of S. Georgia St. At 3:31 pm a realtor reported a possible burglary at a vacant residence in the 300 block of W. State St. The theft of copper wiring and copper tubing was reported. The incident remains under investigation. Pursuant to a complaint of continuing harassment on April 16 at a residence in the 700 block of S. Elm St, a warrant has been issued charging Craig Michael Twigg, 40, of Guthrie Center with harassment-third degree, a simple misdemeanor.*  Pursuant to an investigation initiated April 4 regarding the theft of water from the city of Jefferson at a residence in the 500 block of N. Maple St, warrants have been issued charging the following with the theft of services – third degree, aiding and abetting, an aggravated misdemeanor: Richard Charles Hiram Lampe III, 41, and Tamara Lynn Lampe, 41, both of Jefferson, and Tyler James Alberts, 25, of Clinton.*

Wednesday, April 23: A complainant reported criminal mischief to picnic tables and other equipment being scratched and spray painted at Paul Nally Park in the 500 block of N. Locust St. At 9:14 pm a complainant reported a burglary at a residence in the 400 block of E. Harrison St. The complainant returned home and found a basement window had been broken out and muddy shoe prints on an interior basement wall, indicating someone had crawled through the window. The complainant thought food had been taken from a refrigerator.

Tuesday, April 22: At 10:55 am a complainant reported the theft of tools from a carport in the 900 block of W. State St. At 12:59 pm a complainant reported a burglary and theft of 45 rpm records from a residence in the 700 block of Pinet Place. At 6:30 pm an officer was requested at a residence in the 400 block of W. Russell St for a complaint of trespass. Three girls and a mother had entered onto the property and accused a teenage female there of theft. The officer is investigating the allegations. At 11:37 pm a complainant reported someone had attempted to gain entry to a residence in the 400 block of N. Olive St by kicking the back door. The incident is under investigation.

Monday, April 21: At 7:11 am a complainant reported his vehicle had been egged while it was parked in the 600 block of S. Olive St. At 8:28 am an officer investigated a traffic collision at the intersection of Highways 4 and 30. The officer’s report is pending. At 9:35 am a resident spoke to an officer regarding a fox seen regularly in the 600 block of S. Maple St. A conservation officer was contacted regarding the issue.

Sunday, April 20: At 12:55 am a traffic stop in the 200 block of N. Cedar St resulted in the arrest of Jeremy Scott Scheffers, 19, of Lake City for interference with official acts*. He was also cited for driving wile suspended.

Saturday, April 19: At 9:18 pm a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. Madison St resulted in a charge of interference with official acts being filed in juvenile court against Maggie May Havens, 15, of Jefferson*. At 9:46 pm a complainant reported he was assaulted at a residence in the 600 block of S. Wilson.

Friday, April 18: At 7:18 am a resident reported harassing contact from a known male. At 1:44 pm a resident reported the theft of items from a vehicle in the 600 block of W. Lincoln Way.

Thursday, April 17: At 12:58 pm an officer investigated a backing accident in the 100 block of N. Wilson. Kimberly Kaster of Grinnell was southbound. Marjorie Beecher of Jefferson attempted to back from a parking stall on the west side of the block, but according to Kaster, Beecher struck her vehicle. The officer could not locate damage on either vehicle. No citation was issued. At 6:20 pm an officer arrested Jody Lyn Shad, 38, of Jefferson on an outstanding Greene County arrest warrant for theft-fifth degree*. At 6:31 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to her residence in the 500 block of W. Madison St. At 7:03 pm a complainant reported a burglary at a residence in the 300 block of N. Wilson. At 8:12 pm an officer investigated a reported domestic assault which had occurred at Sparky’s One Stop.

Wednesday, April 16: At 1:09 am an officer was requested by the Greene County sheriff’s deputy to check on a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 1700 block of Highway 4; the officer assisted the deputy upon his arrival with an arrest. At 9:58 am an officer investigated a backing collision in the 100 block of E. State St. Chey Nunez was backing out of a parking stall when he sideswiped a vehicle in an adjacent stall. That vehicle is owned by David Ohrt. Damage to Nunez’s 1996 Ford Taurus was estimated at $100. Damage to Ohrt’s 2003 Dodge Dakota was estimated at $200.

Tuesday, April 15: At 6:38 pm a mother reported an 11-year-old female who had been with a friend in the 200 block of S. Oak St. The girls and their bikes were missing. They were located by a parent an hour later riding their bicycles nearby. At 7:14 pm a complainant reported the theft of a camera that was believed to have taken place at Spring Lake. The officer took the report and forwarded it to the Greene County sheriff’s office.  Pursuant to a complaint of an assault at a residence in the 400 block of N. Pinet St on April 1, a warrant has been issued charging Jarrett Allan Long, 23, of Grand Junction with assault- serious misdemeanor and harassment- third degree*. Pursuant to a complaint of license plates being bent on vehicle in the 400 block of W. McKinley St on April 4, a warrant has been issued charging Jordan Spagnola, 21, of Guthrie Center with criminal mischief- fifth degree*.

Monday, April 14: An investigation was initiated March 22 of a theft of a black 2006 Jeep Wrangler from Joe’s Auto Body. The vehicle was recovered April 1 in a creek at Brushy Creek State Park. As a result of the investigation, warrants have been issued charging Timothy James Dunphy, 29, of Duncombe with criminal mischief-first degree (class C felony), burglary-third degree (aggravated misdemeanor), and theft-first degree (class C felony).*

Sunday, April 13: At 7:26 pm a resident reported a flag pole had been blown over in the 100 block of W. Harrison St.

Saturday, April 12: At 6:37 am a complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from the 400 block of E. McKinley St. At 6:48 pm a complainant reported a theft in the 400 block of N. Pinet St.

Friday, April 11: At 7:30 am a sheriff’s deputy notified a JPD officer of an assault that possibly was to take place at Greene County High School. School staff was notified. A sheriff’s deputy interviewed the aggressor regarding the situation. At 7:46 am a complainant requested an officer at a residence in the 700 block of S. Elm regarding harassment. At 12:40 pm an officer arrested Jack Pearce on an outstanding warrant for probation revocation* after Pearce had come to the LEC to meet with a probation officer. At 1:28 pm a complainant in the 1300 block of Westwood Drive reported identity theft. At 3:02 pm an officer was requested at the 1000 block of W. Washington St to take a report of theft. At 3:45 pm a complainant spoke to an officer about a male trespassing in the 300 block of N. Cedar St.

Thursday, April 10: At 11:25 am n officer investigated a traffic collision that occurred  at S. Elm Street at  Edgewood Ave. Judith Nelson was southbound in the inside lane on Elm Syliva Kunce was southbound on Elm in the outside lane. Nelson didn’t see Kunce’s vehicle and changed lanes into the outside lane, colliding  with it.  Nelson was cited for improper use of lanes. Damage to her 2014 Ford Explorer was estimated at $1,000.

Wednesday, April 9: At 8:31 am an officer was requested at Greene County High School for a harassment complaint. The officer’s investigation led him to charging Robert Arms, 16, of Jefferson with harassment-third degree, a simple misdemeanor*. Arms was referred to Juvenile Court Services.

Tuesday, April 8: At 6:15 pm a complainant reported on behalf of her son an assault that occurred at Greene County High School at about 7 am. The officer is investigating.

Monday, April 7: At 4:35 pm the Greene County sheriff’s office requested an officer pick up several syringes that had been partially burned on the boat ramp at Henderson Park. The officer collected the items and turned them over to a deputy.

Sunday, April 6: At 10:36 am a complainant reported the theft of a debit card and money by two juvenile boys at a residence in the 800 block of W. Washington St. The incident remains under investigation. Also at 10:36 am, an officer was called to that same residence by a different complainant on a matter of trespass.

Saturday, April 5: At 2:01 am a traffic stop in the 400 block of W. Lincoln Way resulted in the arrest of Rianna Lea Stott, 30, of Jefferson for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense.* She was also cited for improper rear lamp and dark window tint. At 12:21 pm a complainant reported finding a 3-year-old boy riding a bicycle across the overpass on N. Elm St. A parent was notified and the child was returned home. The incident was referred to the Department of Human Services. At 12:50 pm a complaint reported a burglary and theft of prescription medication from a residence in the 500 block of N. Wilson. At 9:21 pm a traffic stop in the 300 block of N. Elm St resulted in the arrest of Jeremy Andrews, 25, of Jefferson for OWI-second offense.* He was also cited for failure to give continuous turn signal, failure to prove security against liability, and failure to have a valid driver’s license.

Friday, April 4: At 2:30 pm the Jefferson water department reported the theft of water occurring at a residence in the 500 block of N. Maple St. An investigation was initiated. At 3:39 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to vehicles parked in the 400 block of W. McKinley St. The license plates of three vehicles had been bent. At 7:37 pm a complainant reported the theft of a dog from an apartment in the 200 block of E. State St.

Thursday, April 3: At 10:49 am an officer arrested Brandon Gobble at a residence in the 600 block of N. Olive St on an outstanding Story County warrant for failing to serve a jail sentence*. At 12:05 pm staff at Dollar General reported a theft that had occurred; an investigation was initiated. At 3:51 pm a resident reported losing a woman’s brown wallet, possibly in the area of Shopko.

Wednesday, April 2: At 6:54 am a complainant reported the theft of money from a residence in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. At 9:45 am a complainant spoke to an officer at the LEC about property she had been asked to take possession of and hold onto for another female. The complainant found items associated with illegal use of controlled substances in the property. The officer took possession of the items and will apply for a court order to have them destroyed. At 2:15 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief occurring by a renter who was moving out of a residence in the 900 block of N. Pinet. At 2:21 pm the Department of Human Services notified an officer of a pending investigation alleging a sex assault had occurred two years ago involving the caretaker of a juvenile. The location of the offense has not yet been established.

Tuesday, April 1: At 2:12 pm an officer was advised that a vehicle that had been reported stolen March 22 from Joe’s Auto Body had been found at Brushy Creek State Park. An officer went to the park and conducted an investigation with the assistance of the DNR officer there. The stolen Jeep was recovered in a creek and is expected to be a total loss. A suspect was identified and interviewed regarding the theft. Charges are pending completion of the investigation. At 3:32 pm a complainant reported an assault that occurred at a residence in the 400 block of N. Pinet St. Charges are pending. At 6:30 pm an officer investigated a traffic collision at E. Monroe and S. Olive St involving Sarah Olerich and Michael Wenger. Olerich was northbound on Olive. Wenger was eastbound on Monroe when their vehicles collided in the intersection. A passenger in Wenger’s vehicle complained of possible injury and was transported to Greene County Medical Center by private vehicle. Olerich was cited for failure to yield to the vehicle on the right. Damage to her 2001 Chevrolet Impala was estimated at $1,000. Wenger’s 2004 Dodge Stratus was towed from the scene with damage estimated at $4,000. At 9:50 pm a complainant reported unwanted phone calls at a residence in the 300 block of W. Lincoln Way. The caller had previously been instructed by an officer not to contact the complainant. The complaint is under investigation.
