Relay for Life barbecue: New time, same great menu

The community is invited to attend the Relay for Life barbecue on April 26 at a new time.    Serving is scheduled from 11:30 am to to 1:30 pm at the Greene County Community Center.    As in the past, both the Pork Producers and the Beef Producers donate the burgers, but they grill on rotating schedule and this year the Greene County Beef Producers are doing the honors.

Diners will have the opportunity to build their own burgers again this year.  This was a healthy and popular option at last year’s Relay thanks in large part to the very generous donation by Doug Monahan, Jefferson Fareway manager. The menu will also include veggies, chips, fruit, and homemade cookies and bars. The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, who has designated this event as its civic service project, will provide the cookies and bars and will help with the serving.

Survivors and anyone who participates in the “Color Out Cancer” 5K run/walk will receive a free meal ticket; all others are asked to make a free-will donation.  Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

Organizers thanked Doug Monahan and the Jefferson Fareway store,  and the Beef and Pork Producers for their generosity in making this meal a success.
