Raccoon Valley Snow Chasers club gets updated trail groomer
Rod Scheuermann of Jefferson received the Snowmobiler of the Award from the Raccoon Valley Snow Chasers (RVSC) snowmobile club at the group’s final meeting of the year March 13. The Patten family (Mike, Richard and Jackie)of Redfield was awarded Snowmobile Family of the Year. Mike Patten also received the Groomer of the Year award.
The club also discussed an updated trail groomer and drag unit purchased by the club earlier in March. The groomer is a 1998 Tucker with a 116-horsepower engine and has around 1,000 hours of running time. The drag is 18 feet long and around eight feet wide. The groomer will be used on nearly 200 miles of trail in the RVSC trail system, some of which is on the Raccoon River Valley Trail.
“I want to thank the Iowa State Snowmobile Association, Terry Durby, Region 3 director Ben Diekhuis and the Hancock County snowmobile club for helping our club secure this groomer, which is a big upgrade from our previous groomer,” said Mike Patten.
