Greene County district court, week ending March 15

In Greene County district court Matthew C. Schoenfeld, 19, of Ames was granted a deferred judgment March 14 after changing his plea to guilty to a charge of harboring a runaway against the wishes of her parent. Schoenfeld will be on probation to the Center for Creative Justice in Ames for one year. He must pay a civil penalty of $625 and $140 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria Kester)

Melissa Ann Sanem, 30, of Churdan was sentenced to five years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-third offense. All but 30 days of the prison time was suspended. She was placed on probation for three years and must complete a community college drinking drivers course. She must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Her driver’s license was revoked for six years. She was fined $3,125 with a $1,093.75 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. Sanem must pay a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and room and board to the county sheriff for the jail time she serves. Court costs were $180. Charges of driving while license barred and driving while license revoked were dismissed, as was a case in magistrate court in which Sanem was charged with public intoxication.  (Sentencing: Kester)

Persons pleaded not guilty in district court as follows: Scott Michael Harmer, 45, of Jefferson, OWI-first offense; Zakkariah Dylan Levi Boudewynn, 21, of Jefferson, assault on a peace officer, robbery-first degree, assault while participating in a felony (two counts), criminal mischief-second degree, and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent; Mischell Cristen Lampe, 23, of Jefferson, public intoxication-third or subsequent offense, assault on a peace officer, robbery-first degree, and assault while participating in a felony; Jesse Lynn Crawford, 27, of Jamaica, possession of firearm by a felon, burglary-first degree, and assault with dangerous weapon; and Kelsi Elizabeth Gross, 23, of Jefferson, unauthorized use of credit. Trial dates were set for April 8 for Boudewyn, Lampe and Crawford. Trial dates were set for May 13 for Harmer and Gross.

Thorpe, 63, of Scranton, OWI-first offense; Michelle Denise Rader Smith, 42, of Jamaica, possession of marijuana; Zachary James Farrow, 30, of Carroll, OWI-second offense, possession of marijuana, and carrying a concealed weapon; Alex Duncan Dankel, 20, of Scranton, OWI-first offense; and Reyaldo Jose Hernanedez, 26, of Perry, driving while license barred.
