Beta Tau Delta donates sleep sacks for newborns
For babies born at Greene County Medical Center, this re-order of sleep sacks has come just in time.
Beta Tau Delta, a Jefferson sorority that raises money for projects to benefit the children of Greene County, provided the initial order of sleep sacks for babies born at the medical center. And recently the supply ran low, so the sorority, using donations from its Virtual Charity Ball fundraiser, stepped in to reorder another two-year supply.
The sleep sack is a wearable blanket that replaces loose blankets and bedding that could accidently cover a baby’s face and interfere with breathing.
Nurses at the medical center use the sleep sacks to model the correct usage and help ensure new parents know their own role in the prevention of SIDS. The blankets go home with all newborns.
Beta Tau Delta has supported a variety of Greene County Medical Center programs for babies and children over the sorority’s 97-year history.
