Two more losses for Ram hoops teams

The Greene County varsity basketball teams lost conference road games Friday to the North Polk Comets in Alleman.

The girls came within 10 points of the 3A seventh-rated Comets in the 63-53 loss. For the Rams, junior Kayla Mobley led in scoring with 20 points. “I thought we play really well for most of the game.  I thought it was great to be ahead by 7 points at halftime, hold both Murphy’s under their averages and taking care of the ball as good as we did against the #7 team in the state on their floor,” said coach Chad Morton. “We had a rough stretch in the third quarter where we couldn’t hit a shot and they got some transition baskets on us.  We could never really recover from that.  I was very happy how well we played coming off a discouraging game on Thursday night.  Hope we can build from this game.”

Freshman Trey Tucker again led the Rams in scoring with 30 points, the highest of his young varsity career. Junior Landon Braun added 14 points.

The girls are now 9-10 overall and 8-9 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The boys are 5-13 overall and 4-12 in the HOIAC.
