A quartet of Jefferson Hoop Shoot winners won trophies at the Elks district competition held Jan. 18 in Storm Lake.
Winning first place trophies were 8-9 boys champion Logan Woodruff of Jefferson and 10-11 girls champion Talia Schon of Glidden. Both youngsters will advance to the state Elks finals in Des Moines Feb. 22 on the Grandview campus. They and their families will be the guests of the Iowa Elks for a weekend of competition and fun. Winners at the state competition will advance to the five state regional “Hoop Shoot” to be held in Iowa City late in April.
Also winning trophies were second place finishers Rilee Jordan of Scranton in the 8-9 year old girls competition and Kaitlyn McColley of Rippey in the 12-13 girls contest.
The annual “Hoop Shoot” is just one of the many youth activities and programs sponsored by the Jefferson Elks Lodge #2306.
