Winners of Elks Hoop Shoot told

Nearly 100 people watched area youth compete in the Jefferson Elks 40th annual Hoop Shoot Saturday in the Greene County Middle School gym.  Local champions were named in three age divisions for both girls and boys.  The contest culminated competition in the Greene County and Glidden-Ralston school districts plus competitors from other area schools.

First place in the 8-9 girls competition was Rilee Jordan of Scranton with second place going to Isabella Schroeder of Jefferson. The boys champion was Logan Woodruff of Jefferson with Mason Happe of Jefferson second.

The 10-11 year old division saw Talia Schon of Glidden win first place and Emmalin Nelson of Jefferson second in the girls division.  Karter Kennebeck of Glidden won the boys competition and Daniel Brigham of Glidden was second.

In the 12-13 girls competition Kaitlyn McColley of Rippey placed first.  Gina Brown of Jefferson was second.  The boys winner was Austin Delp of Jefferson.

The winners advance to Storm Lake Saturday, Jan. 18, for the Elks district competition.  The site will be the Storm Lake High School gym with registration at 9 am and competition at 10.  Those winners qualify for the State Championship in Des Moines in February.

The annual Elks Hoop Shoot is just one of the programs for youth sponsored by the Jefferson Elks Lodge 2306.
