Jefferson Telecom progresses with fiber optic project

JEFFERSON – Jefferson Telecom continues to progress on the fiber to the home (FTTH) project in Jefferson.  Fiber has been buried throughout much of Jefferson, yet wet weather earlier in the year made it impossible to fully complete the burying project, so plowing will continue in the spring.

The next phase of the FTTH project will be to proceed with the inside wiring for all residential homes starting immediately.  A Jefferson Telecom representative will call area residents to schedule a convenient appointment time to enter each home to complete needed wiring.

Once homeowners receive a call, they are asked to please schedule a time at their earliest convenience to help the project stay on schedule.  Homeowners who receive a message regarding an appointment are asked to return the call to Jefferson Telecom’s fiber optic appointment line at 515-386-4777 to schedule a time.  Jefferson Telecom appreciates customers’ cooperation to assure that this phase is completed in a timely fashion.

FTTH is the only technology that delivers enough bandwidth, reliably and at a low enough cost, to meet the ever-increasing demand for more robust internet, video, and voice service as well as other online applications. Compared to copper wire or coaxial cable, FTTH also has a much longer lifespan and the capability of being 1,000 times faster than DSL and cable modems. Ongoing improvements in fiber-optic equipment are constantly increasing available bandwidth without having to change the fiber. That’s why fiber networks are said to be “future proof.”

Jefferson Telecom is pleased to be part of this exciting FTTH infrastructure transformation as it continues to invest in fiber optic cable to replace the current buried copper lines in Jefferson.  Jefferson Telecom is committed to bring the residents of Jefferson the best technology available.

Persons who have questions may call Jefferson Telecom.
