Greene County 4-H members, as well as 4-H volunteers and financial sponsors, were recognized during the annual 4-H Awards Ceremony Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Greene County High School auditorium in Jefferson. Record books submitted by 4-H members were judged by volunteers who decided on the final awards, recognizing outstanding record books and excellence in project work over the past year.
“We’re really happy to see another year of solid growth in the Greene County 4-H program,” said Michael Cooley, county Extension coordinator for Greene County Extension. According to Cooley, 4-H enrollment in Greene County increased by 5 percent over the past year, while record book submissions increased by 20 percent. “Most counties our size are actually seeing small decreases in numbers, so we’re certainly excited to not only see positive growth, but strong positive growth,” Cooley said.
A total of 60 4-H members submitted a record book for the 2012-2013 4-H year. Nineteen volunteers were recognized at the event, and financial contributors representing a total of $20,000 in donations over the past year were also honored.
Junior 4-H members (grades 4-6 last year) who submitted record books and received awards of excellence were Elizabeth Allen, Conner Allender, Brock Badger, Arthur Bardole, Avery Bardole, Chloe Berns, Madison Brincks, Megan Brincks, Gina Brown, Hannah Curtis, Austin Delp, Lanie Fish, Ashlyn Frederick, Brian Hardaway, Aubrey Heupel, Jaden Hoyt, Immanuel Jubell, Jenna Klocke, Kassie Lamoureux, Kirsten Lamoureux, Tyler Miller, Katie Minnehan, Kara Reed, and Karissa Stephenson. Annie Twillie received an award of merit.
Outstanding first year junior record keeping awards were given to Elizabeth Allen, Avery Bardole, and Hannah Curtis. Honorable mentions went to Lanie Fish, Karissa Stephenson, and Ashlyn Frederick.
Outstanding second and third year junior record keeping awards were given to Brock Badger, Arthur Bardole, Aubrey Heupel, and Immanuel Jubell. Honorable mentions went to Madison Brincks, Jaden Hoyt, Kassie Lamoureux and Kirsten Lamoureux.
Junior project awards were presented as follows: Brock Badger (Shooting Sports), Arthur Bardole (Child Development, Food & Nutrition, Sewing & Needle Arts, and Woodworking), Madison Brincks (Horse & Pony), Gina Brown (Sewing & Needle Arts), Brian Hardaway (Dog, Horse & Pony, and Photography), Aubrey Heupel (Photography, Child Development, Clothing & Fashion, Food & Nutrition, Sewing & Needle Arts, and Citizenship), and Immanuel Jubell (Rabbit and Sewing & Needle Arts).
Intermediate 4-H members (grades 7-8 last year) receiving awards of excellence for their record books were Abby Badger, Jake Berns, Gwen Black, Colton Brincks, Onica Delp, Emily Finch, Lucas Fischer, Haley Hall, Samantha Hardaway, Emily Heupel, Wyatt Klocksiem, Regan Lamoureux, Emma Larson, Jared Marshall, Kolin Reed, Jack Schilling, Avery Schlabach, and Joe Towers. David Didericksen received an award of merit.
Outstanding intermediate record keeping awards went to Abby Badger and Emily Heupel. Honorable mentions were given to Lucas Fisher, Haley Hall, Wyatt Klocksiem, Emma Larson, Jared Marshall, Jack Schilling and Joe Towers.

Intermediate project awards were presented as follows: Jake Berns (Food & Nutrition), Onica Delp(Rabbit), Emily Finch (Sheep, Photography, and Food & Nutrition), Lucas Fisher (Food & Nutrition and Communication), Haley Hall (Sewing & Needle Arts and Photography), Samantha Hardaway (Dog, Horse & Pony, Photography, Clothing & Fashion, Sewing & Needle Arts), Emily Heupel (Music), Jared Marshall (Poultry, Rabbit, Food & Nutrition, and Communication), Jack Schilling (Animals, Horse & Pony, Poultry, Rabbit, Sheep, and Digital Storytelling), and Joe Towers (Beef and Food & Nutrition).
Senior 4-H members (grades 9-12 last year) who submitted record books and received awards of excellence were Kami Badger, Kyann Brown, Garion Consier, Tabatha Consier, Bailey Godwin, Noelle Gray, Taylor Hardin, Sean Kenan, Megan Klocke, Kasey Lane, Kate Larson, Kata Sandage, Jamie Theulen, and Cailey Wendl. Hannah Hoyt received an award of merit.
Seniors recognized for outstanding record keeping were Kami Badger, Bailey Godwin, Noelle Gray, and Sean Kenan. Honorable mentions went to Kyann Brown, Taylor Hardin, Hannah Hoyt, and Kate Sandage.
Senior project awards were presented to Bailey Godwin (Sheep, Visual Arts, Food & Nutrition), Sean Kenan (Poultry, Outdoor Adventures, and Woodworking), and Kate Sandage (Sheep).
Four senior 4-H members received Major Life Skills awards, 4-H’s highest honor. Recipients were Kami Badger (Ak-Sar-Ben, Overall Merit and Overall Leadership), Bailey Godwin (Achievement), Noelle Gray (Ak-Sar-Ben and Overall Leadership), and Taylor Hardin (Achievement, Agriculture, and Overall Merit).
Several other awards were also presented as follows:
2013 Greene County Fair Roger Clause Memorial Herdsmanship Award ($100 Award): Washington Winners 4-H Club.
