Chase Flack, 1992 – 2019

Services were held June 7 at the Greene County Middle School gymnasium for Chase Allen Flack, 26, of Ames, formerly of Jefferson.

The Rev Cathy Van Gundy offered words of comfort. Coach Chris Conner, Coach Mark Sawhill and John McLaughlin also spoke.

Recorded music was “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Born Free” by Kid Rock, and “Sweet Child o’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses. Jane Emley, 1928 – 2019

Services were held June 3 at Central Christian Church in Jefferson for W. Jane Emley, 90, of Ankeny,  formerly of Bagley and Jefferson.

Pastor Sheldon Henderson offered words of comfort. Pat Emley  accompanied congregational singing.  Honorary bearers wee William Emley, Brent Emley, Bob Emley and Spencer Emley.

Sandra Becker, 1937 – 2019

Services will be held Tuesday, May 28, at the Bagley United Methodist Church for Sandra Kay Becker, 81, of Bagley.

Pastor Larry Monthei of Hope United Methodist Parish will offer words of comfort. Gary Haupert will be soloist, accompanied by Danille Curtis.

Mildred “Millie” Ann Said, 1935 – 2019

Mildred (Millie) A. Said, the daughter of William R. and Florence (Gotter) Hoyt, was born November 28, 1935 in Scranton, Iowa and departed this life May 19, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She lived her life to the age of 83 years, 5 months and 21 days.

Millie graduated from the Scranton Consolidated School in 1954 and later attended Simpson College. On May 13, 1958, Millie was united in marriage to Clifford Said at the Methodist Church in Scranton. After their marriage, Millie joined Cliff in Germany while he was serving in the Navy and their first daughter, Cynthia (Cindy), was born while there. Veronica Turner, 1920 – 2019

Veronica Turner, 98, of Jefferson passed away May 13, 2019, at the Greene County Medical Center.

Father John Gerald of St. Joseph Catholic Church presided at the graveside service held Monday, May 20, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Josh Monthei provided music, singing “On Eagle’s Wings”. Clare Hunter, 1921 – 2019

Floyd Clare Hunter was born to Floyd Erwin and Alice (Minor) Hunter on April 29, 1921, in Greene County Iowa on the family farm west of Churdan and passed from this life May 16, 2019 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa. He lived his life to the age of 98 years 18 days.

As a child, Clare lived with his family on several farms in Greene County. He attended school in Churdan and Scranton and graduated from Jefferson High. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II for 39 months, primarily in the transportation corps stationed in Prince Rupert, British Columbia to support the war in the Pacific. Dennis Kemble, 1942 – 2019

Dennis Michael Kemble, The Keeper of the Fence Row and dancer extraordinaire, was welcomed into Heaven surrounded by his loving family May 10, 2019. He was 76 years of age. A Celebration of Life was held Friday, May 17 at the Panora Community Building in Panora.

Dennis was born August 13, 1942, to Leola (Chayer) and Charley Bill Kemble Jr. in Des Moines. The third of four, he was always a team player. When he wasn’t joking around with his siblings, you could find Denny fishing, hunting, working with his dogs, and playing basketball. Carolyn Towers, 1935 – 2019

Carolyn Marie (Lamoureux) Towers joined her beloved husband in heaven, reunited and once again dancing together as they so enjoyed during their 64 years of marriage. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, her warmth and nurturing spirit that knew immeasurable love, is already sorely missed.

Carolyn was born in Churdan on May 14, 1935, to her loving parents Rosella (Roper) and Jules Lamoureux. Rolland Hillman, 1931 – 2019

A Service of Remembrance was held April 27 for Rolland Eugene Hillman, 87, of Grand Junction.

Pastor Steve Ransom offered words of comfort. Becci Prather and Christina Hackman shared family remembrances. Jennifer Hillman, Becci Prather, Stephanie Hillman and Christina Hackman sang a quartet and Jennifer was soloist. They were accompanied by Danille Curtis. Honorary bearers were Jason Prather, Lars Lindberg, Bob Glenn and Romayne Dudley.

A celebration of the life of Warren Hoyt Monroe, 98, of Jefferson will be held May 4 at the first Presbyterian Church in Jefferson.
