Miss Megan Leigh Dean and Dr. Zachary William Sutton were united in marriage on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Augusta, GA, with the  Reverend David Hunter officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Dean of Augusta. She is the granddaughter of Patricia Quattlebaum and the late Joe Quattlebaum and Mary Lou Dean and the late Lieutenant Colonel John Dean, all of Augusta.

Myles Kiner, 1994 – 2018

Myles Kiner, 24, of Lake City walked into the loving arms of his lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Myles was born at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines to Tammy and Scott Kiner of Grand Junction on March 1, 1994.

At age 6, Myles began his journey at Faith, Hope and Charity in Storm Lake, to expand and venture friendship, education, love and family. During his time at Faith, Hope and Charity, Myles attended and graduated from Storm Lake Public Schools. Tom Winger, 1948 – 2018

Funeral services were held March 21 at Central Christian Church in Jefferson for Tom Winger, 69, of Jefferson. Interment was at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.

The family was assisted by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home of Jefferson.

Thomas Eugene Winger was born October 12, 1948, to parents Betty (Thomas) and Eugene Winger. Tom became an eldest brother to Jerry, Jeff, Mike and Marion. The family was raised primarily in Scranton. Shirley Imler, 1936 – 2018

A visitation was held March 8 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson for Shirley Imler, 81, of Jefferson.

A private interment will be held at a later date at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.

Shirley Jean Imler was born October 25, 1936 in a log cabin in Guthrie County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Margaret Elizabeth Dargen Wailes and George Wailes. Shirley attended school at Bayard. Continue reading Shirley Imler, 1936 – 2018

Services were held March 6 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson for Mary Margery Thornton, 87, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Jefferson.

Words of comfort were offered by the Rev Julie Poulsen, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Danille Curtis was pianist and soloist. Honorary casket bearers were Jocely Nelson, Lily Pohlman, Sophie Pohlman, Caroline Pohlman, William Berg, Jackson Berg, Grant Shell, Dillon Shell, Henry Nelson and Patrick Nelson. Martha Scheuermann, 1942 – 2018

Services were held March 10 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson for Martha Scheuermann, 75, of rural Cooper. Interment was at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.

Martha Maxine (Trask) Scheuermann was born December 6, 1942, to Charlie and Grace (Martin) Trask in Eagle Grove. She entered Eternal Life on March 4, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, surrounded by her family. She fought a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Services were held Sunday, March 4, at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home for Karen Jane Schilling, 65, of Lee’s Summit, MO.

Words of comfort were offered by Tim Robbins of Scranton. Casket bearers were Merle Hallinan, Jim Hallinan, Tom Hallinan, Denny Hallinan, McKinley Schilling and Jeremy McGowen. Interment was at the Scranton Township Cemetery.

Frances “Flo” Dobson, 1927 – 2018

Frances FloElla Dobson, known as Flo, was born April 26, 1927, in Forbes, MO, to Charles Austin Cleland and Frances Grethel (Sipes) Cleland. She grew up in Batavia, IL, where she attended District 101 Schools, graduating in June of 1945. She attended IBM Electric Accounting School. She worked for Barber Greene in Aurora, IL, until she moved to Beaver with her family. She then worked as a secretary to the superintendent of schools at Grand Junction. A prayer service was held Feb. 7 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson for Earl Dean “Busch” Fredrickson, 65, of Otho.

Earl Dean “Busch” Fredrickson was born on March 23, 1952, in Dexter to Richard and Kathleen Fredrickson. He was baptized as an infant at Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter and later confirmed at St John Lutheran Church in Dana. At the time of his death he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Joyce Turner, 1926 – 2018

Joyce Swaney Turner, 91, of Jefferson died peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 31, 2018. Her bright spirit, compassion for others, and wry sense of humor were with her until the end. Ever curious and a great listener, she was a brilliant, energetic, and caring woman who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Joyce made the world a better place.
