Wyatt James Wilson, 2018 – 2019

A Service of Remembrance was held March 27 for Wyatt James Wilson, age 3 months, at the First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction.

Pastor Steve Ransom offered words of comfort. Honorary bearers were Ben Johnston, Jacob Johnston, Spencer Johnston, Kenzo Johnson, Austin Maach and Hayden Pottorff.

Casket bearers were Ryan Johnston, Jeremy Johnston, Bradley Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Michael Johnston and Jim Wilson. Interment was at the Junction Township Cemetery west of Grand Junction.

Wyatt James Wilson, son of Benjamin and Megan (Johnston) Wilson, was born December 8, 2018, at the Boone County Hospital. Wyatt passed away at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson on March 22, 2019, at the age of 3 months and 14 days. Continue reading Wyatt James Wilson, 2018 – 2019

Jeanette Marie Van Tassel, 1931 – 2019

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson for Jeanette Marie Van Tassel, 87,  of Jefferson.

The Rev John Gerald, pastor of the church, will celebrate the Mass of the Resurrection. Sheilah Pound will be soloist, accompanied by Lois Last.

Casket bearers will be Kari Northeim, Katie Lynn Dinslage, James Truckenmiller, Norman Manken III, Heather Manken, Jeremiah Manken, Jacob Manken, Heidi Manken, Sebastian Van Tassel, Bianca Bakkar and Andre Bakkar. LeJane Dillivan, 1927 – 2019

The family of LeJane Dillivan, 91, of Jefferson, formerly of Rippey, honors her upon her death.

LeJane Johnson Dillivan was born September 21, 1927, in Greene County at a family farm near Grand Junction. She was the youngest of three children born to Ray Johnson and Mary Ellen Thompson Johnson.

LeJane was a lifelong resident of Greene County, growing up and raising her family near Rippey. She graduated from Rippey High School in 1945 and worked at the First National Bank in Rippey after graduation. Richard ‘Dick’ Wilcox, 1927 – 2019

Funeral services for Richard “Dick” Wilcox, 91, of Jefferson will beThursday, March 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Interment will be at Greenbrier Township Cemetery, Greene County. Memorials are suggested to the Greenbrier United Methodist Church.

Richard “Dick” Wilcox was born August 2, 1927, in Guthrie County, IA, to Clyde and Electa Coe Wilcox. He grew up living with both his mother and grandparents, whom he lovingly referred to as Pa and Ma Coe. He attended both Bagley and Guthrie Center schools, graduating with the Bagley High School Class of 1944. He remained close to his classmates throughout the years and rarely missed a Bagley alumni banquet. During his youth he enjoyed 4-H, showing his animals, and just being with friends. Francis ‘Bud’ Tasler, 1927 – 2019

Francis “Bud” Tasler was born July 19, 1927 to Frank and Margaret Gouger Tasler at Jefferson. Bud attended Jackson #8 Country School through the eighth grade. He attended high school in Jefferson, graduating with the Class of 1945.

In 1948, Bud started farming. In 1950 he was drafted into the United States Army. Before he left for the service, he married Joan Garland on September 30, 1950, then left for the service on October 16, 1950. He was sent to Camp Pickett, VA, for basic training. Doug Templer, 1956 – 2019

Douglas Ray Templer was born December 13, 1956, to Howard Ray Templer and Phyllis Sue Hammacher Templer in Budingen, West Germany.

Doug graduated from Escondido High School, Escondido, CA. He served in the United States Marines from December 1974 to April 1979, and then served in the United States Army from June 1981 to June 1989.

Doug then wanted to see Alaska, so he applied to be a commercial fisherman and liked it so much he stayed for 10 years. Then he moved to Iowa and worked at Farner-Bocken as a night shift manager for 18 years, retiring in June 2016. Continue reading Doug Templer, 1956 – 2019

Margaret Ann Powers, 1926 – 2019

Margaret Powers, the daughter of Harold and Anna (Goedert) Traner, was born February 26, 1926, at Carroll and entered into rest February 5, 2019, at the Regency Park Care Center in Jefferson, Iowa. She lived her life to the age of 92 years, 11 months and 27 days.

Jim Grace, 1930 – 2019

Funeral services were held February 9 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson for James  Martin Grace, 88, of Jefferson.

Fr Jim Bruch of Ogden celebrated the Mass of the Resurrection. Connie Skinner gave the eulogy. Sheilah Pound was soloist, accompanied by Lois Last. Wilma Irene Hunter, 1922 – 2019

Irene Hunter was the daughter of Ben and Lillie (Patrick) Clipperton and was born on December 3, 1922, in their home southwest of Churdan and passed from this life January 30, 2019, at the Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. She lived her life to the age of 96 years, 1 month and 27 days.

Wilma grew up in rural Churdan, moving to her home north of Churdan when she was in junior high school. After she graduated from Churdan High School in 1940, she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Wilma taught at three country schools in rural Churdan. Rose Bea Siemann, 1924 – 2019

Funeral services were held Jan. 30 at St Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan for Rose Bea Siemann, 94, of Jefferson.

The Rev Steve Brodersen celebrated the Mass of Christian Burial. Cantor was Greg Carey with Michelle Fields as organist. Honorary casket bearers were James Eischeid, Dennis Hendricks, Paul McDermott, Mike Schultz and Gerald Wright.

Eleanor Krieger, 1931 – 2019

Mass of the Resurrection was offered Jan. 26 at St Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction for Eleanor Elizabeth Krieger, 87 of Grand Junction.

Celebrant was Father Steven Brodersen of Carroll. Soloist was Sheilah Pound, accompanied by Lois Last. Honorary bearers were Megan Hogueison, Kaitlin Hougeison, Nicholas Crouse, Andrew Krieger, Brenna Lucas, Ashley McDonald and the late Travis Crouse. Velma Radebaugh, 1920 – 2019

Velma Radebaugh, 98, of Jefferson passed from this life on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, following a brief illness at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.

Velma, the second daughter born to Cyrus and Alta Lulu (Hiddleson) Radebaugh, was born June 10, 1920, at her parents’ farm home in Hardin Township, Greene County.
