Services were held July 16 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson for Melvin R. Miller, 90, of Jefferson.

Pastor Larry Monthei of Hope United Methodist Parish offered words of comfort. Soloist was Kenny Monthei. Interment was at the Franklin Township Cemetery in Cooper with graveside military rites by and Iowa Army honor guard, and VFW Post 9599 and American Legion Post 11, both of Jefferson. Sheana Story, 1990 – 2018

A Celebration of Life for Sheana Marie Story, 28, of Des Moines will be shared Friday, July 13, at 10:30 am at St Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson.

Father Jim Bruch of Ogden will offer words of comfort. Readers will be Melissa Barrett, Sarah Walker and Sharon Dunlop. Honorary bearers will be Sheana’s nieces and nephews – Kya Grob, Paige Walker, Autumn Barrett, Lillian Barrett, Josie Walker, Walker Barrett, Kylie Walker and Jude Grace.

Deloris Roeder, 1926 – 2018

A Service of Remembrance was held Monday, July 2, at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson for Deloris Roeder, 91, longtime Jefferson resident.

Words of comfort were offered by the Rev Shirley Hoffmann Will of Griswold. Casket bearers were Benjamin Lawson, Rebekah Miller, Derek Roeder and Kyle Roeder. Interment was  at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.

Dale C. Jones Sr, 1945-2018

Funeral services for Dale C. Jones, Sr, 73, of Jefferson, were held Thursday, June 21, at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson. Interment was in the Prairie Center Cemetery in Dallas County.

Dale Clell Jones Sr. was born February 28, 1945, in Perry, the son of Elva Davis Jones and Orville Jones. He grew up on the family farm south of Dawson. He went to a country school south of Perry. For 22 years, Dale worked at Weiss Corporation in Perry until he retired in 1993. He had lived on the family farm taking care of his mom until 1991 when they moved to Jefferson. Raynard Langenbau, 1939 – 2018

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 21, at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook for Raynard August Langenbau, 78, of rural Garwin.  Military honors were provided by Gladbrook American Legion Post #127.

The family was assisted by Mitchell Family funeral Home of Marshalltown, 641-844-1234.

A Celebration of the Life of Wayne Hougham, 57, of Jefferson was held Saturday, June 16, at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson.

Bill Kendall, 1935 – 2018

A Celebration of Life service for Bill Kendall, 83, of Jefferson was held Friday, June 15, at 10 am at the Greene County High School auditorium. Military rites and interment followed at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.

William LeRoy Kendall was the oldest of nine children born to Otha and Flora (Fister) Kendall on April 21, 1935, in Jefferson. Bill was born at home. Bill passed away at his home on June 9, 2018, in the same block where he was born. Continue reading Bill Kendall, 1935 – 2018

Craig Cuddy, 1949 – 2018

Craig Cuddy was born October 12, 1949, the second of Jim and Lorna Cuddy’s five boys. Craig had a tough start in life, as asthma kept him down often. Consequently, he grew into a teen fueled by an uncertain longevity, so he decided to do as much as he could — back to that in a minute. Craig’s journey ended June 10, 2018, at the age of 68. Services were held Monday, June 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson for Harold Martin, Peterson, 91, of Jefferson.

A celebration of the life of Tim Healy was held Saturday, June 2, at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson.

Pastor Cathy Van Gundy of Panora offered words of comfort. James Healy was soloist. Honorary bearers were Jim Wyckoff, Dave Perkins, Mike Piepel, Bob Bills, John Evers, Rick Pierce, Dennis Louk, Phil Siglin and Terry Semke.

Mary ‘Dee Dee’ Anderson, 1931 – 2018

It is with deepest sorrow the family announces the passing of Mary Doloris Anderson, 86, of Des Moines.

Funeral services were May 30 at United Methodist Church in Grand Junction. Pastor Steve Ransom  offered words of comfort. Honorary bearers were Vincent Anderson and Dustan Towne (deceased).

Lorene Conner, 91, of Jefferson

Funeral services for Lorene Conner, 91, of Jefferson, were held Tuesday, May 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.

Interment was at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Lidderdale.

Lorene Marion Kruse was born on September 9, 1926, on the Kruse farm near Lidderdale in Grant Township, Carroll County. She grew up during the Great Depression on the family farm. She attended a one-room school house and then Immanuel Lutheran School with her siblings in Lidderdale. She graduated from Carroll High School. She then attended and graduated from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Carroll in 1948, as did her sister Doris, six years later. Continue reading Lorene Conner, 91, of Jefferson
