Gravel dust contributes to head-on collision

Two Greene County men were injured, one of them seriously, in a head-on collision on V Ave south of 185th St in Junction Township Dec. 11. The collision occurred at 3:14 pm.

According to a report by the Iowa State Patrol, Connor Gunn, 18, of Jefferson was northbound driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Wade Sohm, 33, of Grand Junction was southbound driving a 2016 Mac 600CXU. The vehicles collided head-on.

Gunn was wearing a seatbelt. He was seriously injured and was transported to Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines by LifeFlight. Sohm was not wearing a seatbelt. He suffered possible injuries and was transported to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Ambulance.

Poor visibility due to gravel dust was believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Greene County sheriff’s office, Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement, and the Grand Junction and Jefferson fire departments assisted at the scene.
