Letter to the community – GC Early Learning Center board

To the community,

The Greene County Early Learning Center has great appreciation for the faithful support received from our local communities. Grants, donations, fundraisers and volunteer hours make it possible for the center to thrive and grow each year.

The Greene County Community Foundation grant was vital to the center this year to improve documentation and communication with parents, and install new doors and a security system. The center also received a grant from the Elks. The total grant funding received for 2018 was $25,610. The Jefferson Rotary also invited the Greene County Early Learning Center to be the recipient of its “Fund A Need” campaign at the end of its annual Rotary Auction, raising an additional $13,000 for the center. The continued support year after year from county businesses and organizations is truly amazing and we are grateful!

Monetary donations of $13, 615 were received throughout the year with major contributions from Home State Bank, Jefferson Telecom, and the Greene County Supervisors. Multiple non-monetary donations such as non-perishable foods, art supplies, games, books, clothing items, diapers and wipes were also received.

Thanks to all who have supported our fundraisers including the lemonade stand, RAGBRAI meal, farmers market meal, and Yankee Candle sales. The center also received money from Amazon. Donations can be made to the non-profit of your choice for every purchase you make using AmazonSmile. Check out smile.amazon.com so your purchases can make a difference in your community!

Volunteers play a big part in helping the Greene County Early Learning Center run smoothly. RSVP 55+ provides a volunteer to assist with office responsibilities. Parents and community members have donated countless hours to provide assistance with organization, playground needs and classroom improvements. The center also works with the Greene County Schools child development and child psychology classes. The teachers have students observe and assist in the classrooms to get hands on experience.

We are thankful to be a part of such a generous community that is focused on the wellbeing and future of our children. We look forward to another wonderful year ahead as we plan for the future needs of the Greene County Early Learning Center in continuing to provide excellent care for the young children of our county.
