Greene County district court, week ending Oct. 11

In Greene County district court Alex Dankel, 25, of Scranton was sentenced Sept. 28 to two days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense, amended from OWI- second offense. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. He may complete the 48-hour Des Moines Area Community College drinking drivers program in lieu of the jail time. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking driver’s school.

Dankel  was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge; half will be waived if he obtains a temporary license. He must pay a $10 drug abuse resistance (DARE) surcharge and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

William Russell Griffin, 43, of Rippey was fined $65 after he pleaded guilty at arraignment to charge of assault- simple He must also pay a $22.75 surcharge and $60 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Jacob Randall Fisher, 27, of Webster City, possession of marijuana- first offense and OWI- first offense; Rodney Dean Halterman, 18, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a city-owned public park, failure to affix tax stamp, and theft- fourth degree; Judy Ann Richarson, 54, of West Des Moines, OWI- second offense; Jeremy J. Hamilton, 30, of Jefferson, OWI- first offense; and Brandon Duong, 29, of Jefferson, possess or carry danger weapon while under the influence.
