JPD finds designated drivers, no impaired drivers in sTEP

Jefferson police captain Heath Enns included good news with his report of a special Traffic Enforcement Project (sTEP) carried out March 14-17. “We are pleased to share that our patrol officers reported making contact with several vehicles during this sTEP wave that had designated drivers and they came across 0 impaired drivers! Thank you to all who made the right and safe choice to drink responsibly,” Enns wrote.

He reported JPD officers issued 77 warnings and wrote 12 citations during that time.

Citations were issued as follows: speed, 4; driving without license, 3; registration violation, 3; open container of alcohol, 1; and no proof of insurance, 1.

Warnings were issued as follows: equipment violations, 15; registration violations, 14; no proof of insurance, 11; stop sign/traffic light, 6; dark windows, 6; seat belts, 5; speed, 4; motorist assist, 1; and other traffic violations, 15.
