Greene County distict court, week ending Nov. 8

In Greene County district court Rick Thomas Weiss, 47, of Fort Dodge was sentenced to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. He must pay sheriff’s fees for the time he serves. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College weekend offenders program in lieu of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. He was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education. Court costs were $140. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

James Harris, 30, of Woodward was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge on a charge of harassment- simple, amended from harassment- third degree. Court costs were $136. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Angela Dawn Beem, 46, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of criminal mischief- third degree. The prison term is consecutive to the term in another case and concurrent to the terms in two other cases. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. Beem must reside at a residential correctional facility until she receives the maximum benefits. She must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. She must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge, $525 restitution to Fareway, and $100 court costs. Judge McCarville ruled she is unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees.

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Amanda Andrean Abrams, 28, of Panora, possession of marijuana- second offense; Craigg Michael Smith, 40, of Jefferson, distributing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school; and Elizabeth Marie Grossman, 27, of Glidden, OWI- first offense. Trial dates were set for Jan. 23 in every case.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Erick Paul Johnson, 46, of Jefferson, dependent adult abuse- exploitation more than $100, and theft- first degree; Kelsey Marie Badding, 36, of Carroll, OWI- first offense; Jesse Dean Seyler, 26, of Carroll, OWI- first offense; Mark Henry Morrow, 57, of Carson, driving while license barred; Christopher Adelbert Laurent, 48, of Jefferson, driving while license revoked; and Crystal Kay Conroy, 54, of Scranton, credit card fraud more than $10,000 and ongoing criminal conduct.
