Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 15

In Greene County district court a disposition was entered Jan. 8 in a case in which Mason Lee Taylor, 22, of Lohrville was charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI) – first offense and criminal mischief – fourth degree. On the OWI charge, Taylor was sentenced to one year in jail; all but two days was suspended. Taylor must pay a $48 per day sheriff’s fee for the time he serves. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone and he must complete a drinking drivers class at a community college. Taylor was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE).

Taylor was granted a deferred judgment on the criminal mischief charge. He must pay a civil penalty of $315, a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LE) surcharge and restitution to be determined. He was placed on informal probation for one year. Court costs were $140. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)

Michelle A. Christian, 30, of Grand Junction was sentenced to five years n prison after she pleaded guilty to possession of a precursor substance, amended from manufacture of methamphetamine. The prison term was suspended and she was place on probation for thee years. She was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. She must pay a $225 LEI surcharge, restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees to be determined, and $140 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Gary L. McMinimee)

John Raymond Fortisi Jr, 28, of Madrid was sentenced Jan. 11 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a new charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. The court ruled Fortisi is unable to pay $120 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $100. A case was initiated against Teisha Ann Thomas, 22, of Vail on a charge of possession of marijuana-first offense.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Sonya May Smith, 29, of Lohrville has been charged with forgery (four counts). The warrant was issued Oct. 15, 2014, and returned Jan. 12.
