Greene County district court, week ending May 22

In Greene County district court Brian Keith Dunlap, 40, of Perry was sentenced May 18 to three five-year prison terms after he changed his plea to guilty to three counts of burglary-third degree. Two of the prison terms are consecutive; the third is concurrent. All three terms are concurrent to prison terms Dunlap is serving on Dallas County charges. Judgments were entered against Dunlap for a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge on each charge ($375 total). Court costs and sheriff’s fees totaled $957.54.  (Sentencing: Honorable William C. Ostlund)

The charges against Dunlap were in connection with burglaries in Jefferson April 22, April 30 and May 9, 2014.

Erin M. Burnie, 35, of Jefferson was sentenced May 18 to five years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine- first offense. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. The minimum fine and surcharge were also suspended. Burnie must pay a $125 LEI surcharge, $4,755 restitution for stolen property, and $180 court costs. Charges of theft-fourth degree, theft-third degree (two counts), theft-second degree (three counts), burglary-third degree (five counts) ongoing criminal conduct and possession of marijuana were dismissed. The charges against Burnie are in connection with two vehicle thefts and five burglaries to garages in September 2014.

Alex Christopher Bruch, 20, of Arcadia was sentenced May 8 to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to one count of serious injury by vehicle. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. Bruch was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge. He must pay restitution to be determined and $180 court costs. He must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. One count of serious injury by vehicle and one count of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense were dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)

The charges against Bruch were in connection with a serious accident at the intersection of Highways 30 and 25 last Nov. 15.

Anthony Paul Tasler, 40, of Polk City was sentenced May 22 to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-first offense. He was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge; one-half the fine and surcharge will be waived if Tasler obtains a temporary restricted license. Tasler must also pay a sheriff’s fee for the jail time he serves and a $10 DARE (drug abuse resistance education) surcharge. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking driver’s school. Court costs were $100. Ryan William Boge, 22, of Harcourt was sentenced after changing his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-first offense. He was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge. He must also pay a sheriff’s fee for the jail time he serves and a $10 DARE (drug abuse resistance education) surcharge. Boge must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking driver’s school. Ricardo Emmanuelle Rodriguez, 29, of Manhattann Beach, CA, was sentenced to 10 days in the county jail on charges of assault on a peace officer and public intoxication-first offense, amended from public intoxication- third or subsequent offense. On the assault charge, he was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge. He was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge on the public intoxication charge. Rodriguez must pay sheriff’s fees for the time he serves, $90 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees,  and $100 court costs. A charge against Rodriguez in magistrate court of assault- simple was dismissed. (Sentencing: Kester)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Alexander Ward Carter, 21, of Glidden, OWI-first offense; Mariah Morgan Haley, 19, of Carroll, driving while license barred; and Johnathan Dale Laue, 38, of Glidden, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for July 21 in every case.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Anthony David Rothmeyer, 45, of Grand Junction has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. The warrant was issued Nov. 17 and returned May 14.

Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending May 22 as follows: Merissa Shawnay Olson, 25, of Jefferson, child endangerment; and James John Souder, 48, of Carroll, theft-second degree and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
