Challen is champion at Guthrie Center tourney

Rams place ninth with short roster

The Greene County wrestling team took part in the 45th annual Guthrie Center Tiger Wrestling Invitational Jan. 31, placing ninth of 20 teams. The Rams had only seven wrestlers at the tournament. The tournament was held at Guthrie Center High School, utilizing two gyms for junior varsity and varsity action.

Jordan Challen won the championship title in the 138-pound division. The senior is ranked sixth in Class 2A.

Crowning four champions, Clarion-Goldfield claimed the team title with 242.5 points. Manson-Northwest Webster had 167, Ogden 113, Riverside (Oakland) 112.5, Humboldt 111, Panorama 107, Guthrie Center 100.5, Southeast Valley (Gowrie), 98, Greene County 92, Woodward-Granger 78, Tri-Center 73.5, Moravia 64, Underwood 60, I-35 (Truro) 55.5, Griswold 49, East Untion (Afton) and Nodaway Valley (Greenfield), both with 47, West Central Valley 40.5, Coon Rapids-Bayard 39, and Nevada 32.5.
