Ram girls score more than average but lose to R-S

The Greene County girls varsity basketball team took their fifth loss in five games as the Roland-Story Norsemen beat them 61-33 in Jefferson Tuesday. As has become the pattern, the teams played close the first quarter. After one, the score was 13-12 for the Norse. Kenna Marquart set the pace, scoring eight points in the quarter.

Rams go 1-1 vs North Polk on the road

(Editor’s note: Statistics verified and added Dec. 5) The Greene County Rams split games in Heart of Iowa basketball in Alleman Friday, dropping the girls game to the North Polk Comets 58-12 and winning the boys game 47-43. The Greene County boys varsity basketball team gave 2002 Jefferson-Scranton graduate Chris Nelson a win in his coaching debut with the Rams. The Rams topped the Ogden Bulldogs 77-61 in both teams’ season opener in the middle school gym in Jefferson Monday night.
